Plot Summary - Book Two

Jenna Williams, age 22 in Book 2 is Chief Adviser to (evil) Doctor Noah Benton, Head of iDen Biotechnologies, San Francisco branch. Of course, after encountering Cecil in person when he breached the complex, a year ago, she begins to suspect Noah has been lying to her all along. She takes a select few with her in a bid to escape from the San Fransisco National Recreation Area, where the complex is situated. Cecil is facing problems of his own: more and more Eastern Communities like Detroit and Chicago have simply stopped responding. He and everyone else fear the same thing: The iDen company have a new toy in their arsenal, and it'll be San Francisco to wipe them out in a few months. He is forced to find some way of saving the city from impending doom while at the same time, coping with Laura's mysterious behavior of avoiding him as much as possible and spending increasing amounts of alone time with Nora. It is revealed that Jenna is Hutch's thought-to-be-lost fiance'. She is determined to pay Cecil back for saving her skin during the rescue and at the same time, she wants to love Hutch in a more "comfortable" and "tolerable" and "logical" manner. She wants to be changed into a wolf like Hutch. Hutch is strongly against her decision and asks that she and the rest of the humans remain invisible for the time being. General Mathew Brooks of iDen is abducted to extract info on the company's activities. On the way back to home base, Cecil undergoes one of his "anger-attacks" and kills Brooks by changing him and shoving him out of the helicopter where he is killed by one of the iDen company's robots. Cecil is suspended and given a desk job. Amid all the stress and pressure, Cecil finds out by accident that Laura's big secret is that she's actually pregnant with his child, only she's worried that he would hate the responsibilities of fatherhood, hate her, hate the baby. After the initial shock, Cecil accepts his new role of father in his new family with Laura. He goes off to find her but learns that the iDen people have taken her along with Hutch in the company's latest bid in discovering new means of destroying them. (They have to destroy they "Hybrids" as they've come to call them, because after all, they've told everyone that the infected were beyond saving, yet here they are: Cecil, Laura, Hutch, everyone else; living proof) Cecil's plans to save them are, however foiled when he is wanted for being in violation of code for collaborating with the enemy, the killing of Brooks, and the transport of the humans without authorization. Cecil barely escapes with his new-found capabilities: super-speed, invincibility, etc. Cecil only manages to save Jenna in his escape while the other humans are taken into custody for hostage negotiations with the company later on. K1TT (Cecil's Mustang with a mind of its own. It believes itself to be the Kitt from Knight Rider) is destroyed in the escape. They arrive at former iDen laboratories in the ruins of the unexplored South of the city. Jenna manages to convince Cecil to change her, against Hutch's wishes, with some of the left-over TRI-Animal splicing formulas in the lab. She tells him that it's the only sure way of keeping everyone alive. She also tells him that the other captured humans are interested in being changed too and that under TRI-Key law, anyone changed is automatically accepted as being a fighter for their cause. Before she leaves for the others, she leaves Cecil with some info as to his condition (Why nobody else has his abilities) and the iDen building blueprints so that he may plan Hutch's and Laura's rescue. Back at home base, the trade negotiations aren't working out. Jenna convinces the new man in charge (Hutch was formerly in charge or everything) to allow the rest to be changed. Cecil stocks up on guns and infiltrates the compound, buns ablaze. Along the way, he finds Hutch, only he's changed. Hutch is a full-wolf: Human reasoning all but absent. Cecil realizes that the new additives in Hutch's blood might be missing-link to the cure of the virus. He stuns Hutch and leaves him with the newly-changed humans who have come to help, leaving Cecil to confront Dr. Benton. Benton surrenders Laura without any fight. Noah explains that he was never fit to be the future, to govern the world into a new era of change and possibilities. That future was present in him, Cecil, coursing through his veins and that of his unborn child. Noah tells Cecil everything, through a protective force-field: his role in the bombing of iDen Air Six, his reasons for giving up the battle here so that the war may be won later on.. Quote - (Read in Andrew Ryan of Bioshock's voice, because he sounds like that) "You see, Cecil, the human race is deeply flawed in many ways you cannot imagine. The roots of religion and Government and law are rooted far too deep in the ground for any significant change. You see, Cecil, even before all of this, once upon a time ago, a family struggled to survive as the hand of the Government demanded its share of their hard work, a racial war was taking place somewhere on this planet, far away, there was a loving mother who had her only child taken away from her in a bad divorce case. Do you ever wonder, Cecil, why that is? As Theodore Roosevelt once said, 'with great victory, comes great sacrifice,' and so the tree has to die so that another may be planted and thrive on more fertile ground. Some things need to be destroyed so that it may be built stronger. I realized, as the world crumbled into ashes, that no mere human would be fit to govern this new world into paradise. One has to simply.. evolve.. You hold the key, Cecil. I know you have the power to move mountains and gain the trust of anything and anyone. It's in your nature to love. Love is powerful, and combined with your "upgrade" you have the world kneeling at your feet. What happens next is entirely up to you. And if you don't decide, your other half will decide for you. Also, there's the case of your offspring. My guess if that he will just as powerful as you are now. Goodbye, Cecil. May you bring about change to this dead planet." Benton kills himself with a shot to the head, leaving Cecil free to take Laura and leave. The Company falls apart and the remaining residents move back to San Francisco where they will live in peace with the infected. Cecil however stays behind. He is still "Undesirable No. 1" and he fears that if Noah is right, he could completely destroy the ones he love. Before leaving Laura to be taken back via helicopter, he scrawls 'Scott / Sarah' on a piece of paper and tucks in into her pocket. The helicopter leaves just before the company's defense systems rearm themselves. On the way back, Laura goes into labor and Kyle helps with the delivery of her twin son and daughter. Cecil lingers around the complex for a while before setting off to Anchorage. *The events of book three take place* Lampiran:

Marcus Hutch. Actually, it's a picture of Balto, but they look the same so..

The iDen Company Logo, well, something like that.. It's supposed to have a half-gear surrounding the leaf.

The basic idea of the TRI-Animal Splicing Serum: To improve the quality of human life. With all the animal abilities like flying and high-speed running, sound recreation, etc. iDen hopes to develop a more quality being, committing the absolute taboo and putting aside the basic rules of moral and religion by playing God. The iDen company was formerly an inconspicuous company prior to the fictional electronics boom of late 2009, after which, branches started appearing all over the globe. Prior to the disaster, iDen was one of the biggest companies on earth; owning stake in many of the other big companies of the world.
