Let's get straight to the point, Form 4 and 2011 sucks. The homework sucks, my classmates suck (yes, you know who you are), Pn. Ung is still... being herself (cut-throat bitch with PMS every single day), my house sucks because it's so far away from everything (The funnest thing ever here is a laundromat... and a mamak... but the laundromat is funner... you get to see clothes spinning around in a machine... *spin *spin *spin). Add-Math also gives me headaches by the lesson. Moral education, History and Civics are racially bias and a pain in the ass to learn. (Leaving Malaysia along with every one of my friends. "UP YOURS, MALAYSIA!!1!")
I've thought it over and I've concluded that there is nothing remotely "fun" about the year 2011 and the rest of the year. I have six projects alone for Moral due this year, six oral tests for BM, compulsory attendance for ko-ko (Note that I live half and hour away from my house.), tuition for four different subjects and the worst of it all, I don't have time to write my book.
I have thought it over and I find no reason why I shouldn't continue. It's (not to sound narcissist or pretentious) original, it's unique (no other movie has the same theme - I'd explain it but I don't know how to do that myself) It's like Harry Potter, without wands of dark wizards, but just as magical. The plot:
2008,the Diamond chip is invented by 24-year old Stanford dropout, Frederick Messing, who forwards his discovery to iDen Bio-tech. for research and development. Utilizing artificial diamonds as its main component, the world of technology is forever transformed. Artificial diamonds can be grown using only water, air and a special ingredient. The chip can be "programmed" to meet the user's needs and specifications. It can change its shape, change color, be as hard as steel or as malleable as silly putty. It can be a computer, a cell-phone, a camera - all with some simple programs. The diamond chip has lead to many leaps and discoveries in the field of Science. As of 2010, iDen is the largest and most powerful corporate entity in the existence of mankind.
Present day: June the 10th, 2010, an iDen plane crashes in the forest reserve, located south of the city, minutes after it takes off from San Francisco International Airport. On it were sixty scientists and thirty years' worth of research. The plane was bound for the International Science Expo, held annually in Washington DC. Rescue teams are dispatched from several hospitals in the city. None return.
Hours later, a fog rolls out, enveloping the city in thick mist. Within a day, two million are either dead or missing. Grotesque monsters prowl the streets. They don blood-stained clothes and they lift their noses in the air, sniffing, hungry for more blood. More will die and go missing in the coming weeks. The virus spreads throughout the country and then the rest of the world. Miami is accidentally nuked in a mishap that was part of a plan to "sanitize" San Francisco. Entire states are lost even as many measures are taken to curb the virus: destroying of ships, bridges, roads and train tracks; blocking Persona chips (AI) in cars and other forms of transport. The Golden Gate Bridge is destroyed, as well as the Oakland Bay Bridge and most of the southern highway network.
Entire nations simply die off. (Malaysia is mostly destroyed (thanks to its incompetent politicians), with the remaining survivors living in rural areas and avoiding the cities. Singapore is almost entirely vacant, with most of its population safe in underwater dwellings, a project initiated in early 2009 as part of the nation's solution for diminishing space on land) The remaining worldwide human population comprises of only 20 percent of what's left (5.2 billion people die) and most of them live in special facilities built by iDen. Tasked with rebuilding the world, iDen acts as the savior to humankind: promising to heal the scars of the world.
January 2011 (our story starts here), Six months have passed. Smoke still rises over parts of the city; entire skyscrapers lean against each other; craters in the middle of the street, wrecked cars and destroyed businesses are a common sight. San Francisco appears dead but it is in fact thriving. Cecil James Reinhart, age 15 is one of the survivors of the RED virus. He, along with everyone else around him are no longer human, but they still have rational thinking and reasoning. The only difference now is that they can now do things that are humanly impossible like flying, running super fast, having night vision and ultra-sensitive hearing, etc.
Cecil is a Marker penguin, an animal whose genes are wholly unremarkable to be spliced with, other than the fact that he could recreate sounds far better than parrots. A nifty trick to get out of talking to someone boring or irritating by mimicking the sound of their cell-phone ring tone, but otherwise useless in combat, the principle of survival in post-apocalyptic San Francisco.
Cecil has just passed his KIGER examination (a test thought of by Rodger Kigerson to ensure the survivability and protection of everyone's respective communities. They named it after him "just because". K - Stands for "Killer", I - Stands for "Inglorious", G - Stands for "Good", E - Stands for "End Of Training" and R - Stands for "Recruit" Note: You automatically get the K-Rank if you kill someone, whether you want to or not) with a K-Grade, the highest. Having passed Marcus' (his boss and good friend) small "errands", he is now entitled to form his own team for protection and scavenging duties. (In case you still don't understand, the survivors are assigned duties in their respective communities by their head (Marcus Hutch is San Francisco head) for sustainability. If you refuse, you must leave the community. Those involved in combat and scavenging are exclusively from KIGER.)
The only problem is that there seems to be nobody in the city who meets his needs. He follows Mort's (Gabriel Morton Lancaster, although Cecil only knows him as "Mort" until sometime in the middle of the book, or maybe the next one) advice to import manpower. Two from New York catch his attention: 15 year old Sam L. Summers, a fifteen-year old medic with lots of experience in combat and Nora Elise MacGrigor, a K-Grade seventeen-year old)
Two weeks later, they arrive and Cecil is sorely disappointed and partially horrified, nearly to the point of retching (should this be in the book?). There was a computer bug and Sam L. Summers is actually Laura Sam Summers, a medic with no experience in combat but wants to learn under Cecil's guidance. Incidentally, she is also the girl whom Cecil admired but failed to hit it off with back in New York. (Cecil moved to San Francisco from New York along with the rest of his now deceased family, following a job offer his father accepted in 2008) The computer bug also failed to explain that Nora was a K-Grade but only in archery and she too has no experience. Frustrated, Cecil eventually takes Laura and Nora under his wing (so to speak), along with Kyle Derrenger (the son of former owner of Derrenger Mints, a gun manufacturer and business magnate, Charles Derrenger. His story is actually quite interesting and sad at the same time.), along with Mort as their tech guy (His story is also sad. Mort prefers to be alone and for a reason. Hell, I'll tell you why: His mom is Doctor Rachel Lancaster PhD., one of The Nine: the team of scientists who made the RED virus. He is afraid his fellow survivors will lynch him if they find out)
And so their story begins... (Cue orchestra) A story that will span... (awkward pause*) roughly five novels... (music continues, this time with emphasis on the violin and cello) maybe more, but we'll see. A story about self-discovery and hope in a time of despair. (Dramatic cut-scenes of epic stuff) The beginning of an epic journey that will stretch the very boundaries of the human spirit... (Orchestra slowly builds up "oomph")A journey that I promise will be epic... grand... and will make you at least 43% more awesome after reading and will cost the same as Avatar to produce, should it be made into a movie... (I'm guessing I'd be like... really old if it ever will. Still, can't stop dreaming.)
I bring you... (orchestra stops dramatically. Damn, I should be a screen writer) Point Break (Working title, might change it to something more catchy): Evolution/Evolve, whichever works better with the saga name.
Sorry, if that was a little exaggerated. But thanks for reading it if you did. I really appreciate it. It means so much to me for someone to know, and even more so for that person to like my idea. If you don't, I have more, and mark my words I will make you like them! (Just saying)
This whole thing has just been a total ramble, hasn't it? =/ Well, the conclusion (Speaking of conclusions, I haven't finished my Physics homework. DOH!) is that life sucks to the power of suck right now, but I won't give up. NEVER! I WILL write this book and finish it one day, and I WILL (Well, maybe "might" would be a better word) publish it. I want to make a name for myself and not just be seen as "Ben's brother" or "Brian's brother" forever. I want to be Brandon! (Gosh, I hate my name) I don't want to be looked down upon! I want people to think twice about crossing me (although they already do when they see me) I want them to freaking FLINCH when I give them a pissed look (although most of they already do).
Gosh, I sound as pretentious as Sean =/ Yeah, I'm insulting you on my blog. Too bad you won't be here to read it!! =P (sticks tongue out) Android pwns iOS!!! And Sansung Galaxy S > Apple iPad
