Which actor can compete with Salman Khan nowadays? Before answering the question, let us look at a tid-bit. We reported a couple of weeks ago that the collections of Bodyguard were just behind Dabanng’s Rs.147 crores putting Bodyguard in the third place. But now, Bodyguard has netted an overall collection of Rs.150 crores. This sends ‘Salman’s Dabanng’ to the third place and puts ‘Salman’s Bodyguard’ in the second place. I guess now, we have the answer to the question now – it’s got to be Salman himself.
With each film of his, Salman is proving a point to the other superstars of Bollywood. While Salman’s had three releases between Eid 2010 and Eid 2011, the Baadshah of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan and neither the ‘perfectionist’ Aamir Khan have had a single release. And mind you, Salman’s three releases within the year have raked in all the moolah and turned out to be blockbuster hits. No looking back for Sallu bhai at the moment, except for his facial nerve pain.
Though he is running out of time, Salman Khan wants watch his buddy David Dhawan's Rascals before he leaves for Dublin to resume shooting.
Salman, incidentally never watches any film. But since this is his soul-brother Sanjay Dutt's first production, Salman is willing to make an exception.
Says a source, "Salman is very disturbed by the recent reports suggesting a rift between him and Dutt. He wants to somehow fit a screening of Rascals in his tight schedule, so he can recommend the film to his fans. It's the least that Salman can do. David was overwhelmed to hear this, since he knows Salman doesn't watch films."
David spent a delightful evening with Salman, Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt on Saturday shooting for Bigg Boss.
Says Dhawan, "We all became the 'Rascals' on the set. It was Salman and Sanju's first day of shooting for the show. Seeing their camaraderie I've decided to cast them together in a comedy."
While other directors and producers tend to be ultra-secretive about their films refusing to let a single soul see their precious films before release, David Dhawan has gone the other route with his new comedy.
Rascals is being screened for all and sundry. Every single day there are 2-3 screenings for friends, friends of friends, and friends of those friends. In fact there are so many screenings that Sanjay Dutt who turns a full-fledged producer with Rascals has cancelled plans of an elaborate premiere.
Dhawan says he is fearless about adverse reports on Rascals being SMS'ed to the audience.
Reasons the simple and straightforward storyteller, "What is there to hide? If my film is funny and interesting, I can tell by the preview audiences' reactions that they are entertained. If my film was not interesting then no power on earth and no amount of secrecy can rescue the film."
David says there are three sets of previews for Rascals happening simultaneously. "My friends, Sanju's friends and Ajay's family and friends are holding screenings every day. We want as much feedback as possible."
Salman Khan, who as we know, underwent a surgery for a facial nerve problem, took part in the shooting of ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ which is right now canning its shots in Dublin. For a moment, all seemed well that our Sallu Bhai returned to the sets and resumed work.
But unfortunately, the relief from the surgery has not seemed to last for long. Given the cold climate that prevails in Ireland, Salman’s pain in the face has come back again to haunt him apparently. Sallu Bhai stated that though the surgery reduced his pain by about 60-70 percent, he can still feel it, and it is especially intense when he tries to talk.
Salman underwent the surgery for Trigeminal Neuralgia, a problem that occurs in the facial nerve for some unknown reason and causes a lot of pain in the face and the jaw. Salman has stated that he would have to go back for a second round of the surgery in the next 2 or 3 months again.
Before you jump to any conclusions and start wondering if Salman and Katrina are back together again, let me tell you there relationship as such is over. They are of course back together on-screen for Yash Raj Films’ next with Salman, which is as you all know, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’. The shooting for Ek Tha Tiger has kicked off in Ireland and Salman and Katrina are taking part in the shoot as thorough professionals.
Our Sallu Bhai though is still battling with a little pain from his facial nerve surgery though. Yet he seems to be giving his best for the film’s shoot that is right now taking place in Dublin, the capital of Ireland.
On sets, both Katrina and Salman are indeed sharing a cordial relationship without letting their break-up affect either the movie or their persona. In fact, they seem to be having quite a jolly good time on the sets. It should be fun to watch the duo on-screen, come June 2012.
