Esha Gupta signed opposite Emraan Hashmi for Jannat 2

Prachi Desai and Paoli Dam's loss is Miss India International winner 2007, Esha Gupta's gain. Esha Gupta's looks and sex appeal have helped her get the lead role in Vishesh Films Jannat 2, a sequel to the 2008 super hit film Jannat.


The role in question is that of Emraan Hashmi's wife in Jannat 2 and the films director Kunal Deshmukh wanted someone bold and sensual for the role. Prachi Desai was signed on for the role but the makers of the film apparently re-considered their decision to cast Prachi in the lead role, on the pretext that she was not as sensual as her role demanded her to be and Prachi too was not comfortable with her character and they parted ways amicably.

Mahesh Bhatt then recommended the Bengali actress Paoli Dam as she had the body language and the willingness to go all out for the film and met the requirements of the narrative. But Kunal seemed to be adamant on casting Esha right from the time he saw her as he felt she was perfect for the role. After a lot of discussions, Kunal managed to convince Mahesh Bhatt and co-producers Fox Star Studios.

Jannat 2 also stars Randeep Hooda and newcomer Imran Zahid. The music will be composed by Pritam. Esha will start shooting for the film in Delhi from October 7.

Shahrukh Khan is making sure that his Diwali release, and the costliest Bollywood film that has been made to date just gets bigger and bigger day by day. First it was the budget of the film, then it was Akon, then the VFX, the costumes and only a few days ago SRK got Superstar Rajnikanth to play a cameo in the film. 

Just when we thought it won’t get any bigger, King Khan has now also roped in the ‘Superstar of the Millennium’ Amitabh Bachchan to do voice over for Ra.One.

We know the potential of Big B’s voice. And also, Big B is not new to providing voice over either. He’s previously done that for films like Lagaan and Jodhaa-Akbar. His voice over for Lagaan was indeed considered an asset to the film. Now that he’s doing the same for Ra.One, it would only enhance the film’s appeal further.

Fardeen Khan charged in cocaine case

Past seems to have come to haunt Fardeen Khan again. Today, a Mumbai court found him guilty of possessing banned drug (cocaine) in the 2001 case and he would be sentenced on November 2.


Many feel that, on one hand, while this judgment has come as a blow to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), while, on the other, its an amnesty for Fardeen, as he would now be punished for buying only 1 gm cocaine (from a drug peddler named Nadir Karim Shaikh), instead of 9 gm (as was earlier reported). Readers maybe aware that, as per the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the maximum punishment for possession of less than 2 gm drugs is five years, whereas the maximum punishment for possessing more than 2 gm of banned drugs is 10-year imprisonment.

Fardeen was arrested in May 2001 and 9 gm of cocaine was allegedly seized from him outside a suburban Mumbai restraint. The actor has pleaded that he was negotiating the purchase of one gram of cocaine from a drug peddler when the Narcotics Control Bureau arrested him

Is Bollywood Losing Out Ashish Vidyarthi?

For most of you who have seen Govind Nihlani’s Drohkaal, forgetting the performance of Ashish Vidyarthi as ‘Bhadra’ is just impossible. Such was the intensity of his performance in the film that it fetched him a National Award in the Best Supporting Actor category and made him stand out, despite the presence of two other stalwarts (Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah) in the film. But of late, Ashish Vidyarthi has vanished off the commercial Bollywood circuit. Why do you think we don’t see much of this very talented actor nowadays in Hindi films?


If we wind our clocks back, say 30-40 years, there was a good guy and a bad guy in our films. This is the concept that made us take notice of the acting prowess of actors like Pran, Premnath, Prem Chopra, Ajit, Amjad Khan, Amrish Puri and many other bad guys whom we to date cherish with their screen names. If it was not for them, who would remember Gabbar, Mogambo or Teja?

But for the past twenty years, if we look at Hindi films, the concept of ‘hero-villain’ has been slowly on the decline. Either the bad guy is played by our Hero himself or there is no bad guy in today’s films. When was the last time you saw a good guy and bad guy clash in Hindi films before ‘Dabanng’? Very tough to remember a credible character that was written for a villain of late.

But one industry’s loss has been the gain of several others’ down South. For the past 11 years Ashish Vidyarthi has been busy with his South movies, and in fact he’s had the opportunity to work with nearly all the super stars down South and has been a quintessential part of several blockbuster hits.

Though we got to see him in the critically acclaimed ‘Red Alert’ last year, it was not a commercial success and very few people did witness the talent of this man on-screen. Come next year, we will be privileged to see Ashish in the Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Barfi’.

Hope Bollywood can come out with some interesting characters for this hugely talented actor before they lose it all out to the South and other languages!

Salman’s Pain Returns

Salman Khan, who as we know, underwent a surgery for a facial nerve problem, took part in the shooting of ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ which is right now canning its shots in Dublin. For a moment, all seemed well that our Sallu Bhai returned to the sets and resumed work. 





But unfortunately, the relief from the surgery has not seemed to last for long. Given the cold climate that prevails in Ireland, Salman’s pain in the face has come back again to haunt him apparently. Sallu Bhai stated that though the surgery reduced his pain by about 60-70 percent, he can still feel it, and it is especially intense when he tries to talk.

Salman underwent the surgery for Trigeminal Neuralgia, a problem that occurs in the facial nerve for some unknown reason and causes a lot of pain in the face and the jaw. Salman has stated that he would have to go back for a second round of the surgery in the next 2 or 3 months again.

Rajni Obliges SRK – Shoots for His ‘Cameo’

We reported a few days earlier that Shahrukh Khan is very much keen on Rajnikanth doing a cameo for his upcoming Sci-Fi flick, Ra.One. Whether Rajni would do that or not, given his health condition, and the release date of Ra.One nearing was a big dilemma until yesterday.


Shahrukh Khan has confirmed on the microblogging site Twitter that Rajnikanth has shot for his cameo yesterday, which is 2 October at the Whistlingwood Studios in Mumbai. The shoot took place for 3 hours and Rajni wrapped up his part within this time, and now officially, the shooting of Ra.One is over, and our King Khan is mighty pleased and can’t stop thanking Superstar Rajnikanth.

Shahrukh was all praise for the Superstar on Twitter and our Baadshah Khan thanked Rajnikanth and his entire family for extending their help in completing Ra.One. Now that we know Rajni is part of Ra.One, the film is only going to get bigger and better.

Priyanka Chopra may not have delivered any hit lately, but the actress sure has a considerable fan following across the globe which has been increasing day by day. In 2009, Priyanka Chopra set a record of having over 10,000 followers on Twitter in a month beating Mallika Sherawat who was leading the pack with around 8,000 followers,


This year again, Priyanka becomes the most popular Bollywood star on Twitter with biggies like Sachin Tendulkar and Amitabh Bachchan following behind. Piggie Chopsa has as many as 1,456,840 followers on Twiiter whereas Tendulkar is second with 1, 411, 593 followers.

Standing in the third position is Big B, who has 1,258, 371 followers followed by Shah Rukh Khan (1, 193, 140 followers) and Salman Khan (1, 081,282 followers).
